Jordan is among the world’s largest producers of raw phosphate and is home to the only Arab potash company making Mining and Mineral Resources among Jordan’s most important industries. We have been heavily involved in groundbreaking transactions in this sector. We advised the largest potash company in the world on its $173.3 million acquisition from the Government of Jordan of 26% of the shares of the eighth largest potash producer in the world. We also advised a sovereign wealth fund on its acquisition of a major part of the Government of Jordan’s stake in Jordan’s phosphate mining company in a transaction worth US $111 million. Among our other activities in the sector, we advised a joint venture company and its two major sponsors on a $335 million facility for the building of a phosphoric acid plant in the southern part of Jordan.
